The Temple Gallery is pleased to present its first exhibition of the 2010-2011 season, Parks in Focus: Photographs. The show features photographs by participants in Parks in Focus, a program sponsored by the Morris K. and Stewart L. Udall Foundation that engages middle school students with the natural world, using action-packed excursions and photography to inspire them on trips to national parks and monuments.  The exhibition opens September 7 and runs through October 12 and features photographs taken by students who participated in the 2009 and 2010 Arizona trips. A portion of the proceeds with go to the Parks in Focus program. Please join us for the opening reception on Thursday, September 16 at 5:30 to 7:30pm.

Established in 1999, the mission of the Stewart L. Udall Parks in Focus program is to to connect under resourced youth to nature through photography, yet during our action-packed excursions to awesome public lands, we’re able to do so much more. Parks in Focus combines tried-and-true photography and environmental education lessons with active, hands-on outdoor adventures guided by passionate and knowledgeable leaders who push personal boundaries and create community.

Terry Etherton, owner of Etherton Gallery, which manages the Temple, is pleased to host these two organizations at the Temple Gallery, “We are honored to play a small part in the program expansion of both Parks in Focus and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson.”
